Imaging expansive futures beyond linear time and the constraints of geo-politics, crude oil, and water, “Past and Future Forms” is initiated by interdisciplinary-sound artist Sholeh Asgary with artist-scholar Dena Al-Adeeb, visual-performance artist Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and performance-sound artist Leyya Mona Tawil.

Reflecting the non-static nature of the body within the context of self-defined notions of time as shaped by the geography of foreign policy, crude oil and water, “Past and Future Forms” uses the Epic of Gilgamesh as a departure point in a series of performances that excavate the elusive body across time and space.

"Past and Future Forms" was supported by Soundwave NEXT, and presented at Gray Area Foundation for the Arts in November, 2020.
